Thomasina Connell   
Elected Councillor 
Laois County Council, Ireland

Thomasina Connell hails from Ballybrittas, Co. Laois and now lives and works in the growing town of Portlaoise. She was elected Fine Gael Councillor in the Portlaoise Municipal District.

​

A Practicing Solicitor, she has established a thriving legal practice locally since running for Fine Gael in the last General Election in 2016. She is a strong voice for the local business community and was recently awarded the prestigious title of Laois Business Woman of the Year 2018.

​

She has been a supporter and volunteer in the charity sector for many years, including Simon Community and Focus Ireland. She is a big supporter of Arts and Culture in County Laois, being an active member of both the Portlaoise Musical and Panto Societies. She is an active supporter of Laois GAA.

​

She was educated at Wesley College Dublin, Scoil Mhuire Portarlington, UCD and the Law Society of Ireland.

She is the Vice Chair of the Portlaoise Municipal District, and on the Board of the following committees:

  • Laois Arts Theatre Company Ltd.

  • Portlaoise Leisure Centre

  • the Joint Policing Committee

  • the Dublin-Mid Leinster Regional Health Forum, and

  • the Midlands Regional Drugs Task Force.
